1. What time exactly do we have to turn up for the camp?
The camp will begin at 8 am on 23 July (Monday). Meals will be provided throughout the camp, except for breakfast on 23 July. Our orientation group leaders (GLs) will inform you on the exact meeting and dismissal time and venue when your registration has been accepted.
2. What are some of the activities I will get to enjoy if I join the camp?
We have various activities that will lead you around the NTU campus to familiarize you with the school before the start of your exciting university life. We have also planned activities at the beach, and a race that brings you through an adventure around Singapore. During the camp, you will get to know many new friends and helpful seniors whom you can rely on for help in NTU.
3. How can I register for the camp?
Please fill in the registration form attached to the Freshmen Orientation Package (FOP) or obtain a soft copy of the registration here and send it back to us. Check out the steps to complete registration in the FOP, on this website, or on our Facebook page.
4. When will I be notified with regards to the status of my registration?
When we confirm your registration, we will give you a call.
5. What if I need to matriculate but do not wish to miss out any fun installed for me during the camp?
Laptops with Internet access would be provided during the camp itself. We would arrange for all freshmen to matriculate systematically with the help of their Group Leaders. It is advised to bring along your own matriculation password to assess your own account for matriculation.
6. What are the items we need to bring?
A list will be emailed to you by your group leader (GL) one week before the camp.
7. What is the camp fee for?
The camp fee will include food, transportation, camp T-shirt and accommodation over the entire duration of the camp.
8. How do we pay our camp fees?
Camp fees have to be paid during the registration process. You can either make the payment by cheque, ATM transfer or Internet Banking. Please DO NOT send cash by mail because the mail may be lost during delivery and the money will not reach us. Applicants who do not pay before the camp commences will have their placement revoked.
9. Can I get a refund if something crops up at the last minute, e.g. fell sick?
No. Once the registration is confirmed, food orders, accommodation arrangements, etc. will be made and thus a refund is not possible.
10. Will I get a place immediately once I register?
No. A balloting will be conducted when the total number of applicants exceeds the vacancies. Ideally, we hope to include all applicants in the camp!
11. Where will I be staying during the camp?
Accommodation will be in external facilities. Please bring along your sleeping bag for your own comfort.
12. Are we required to stay over for the entire duration of the camp?
We would very much like you to enjoy the entire camp by being with us. However, in cases of emergencies, please make sure that you report to your group leader (GL) first to make the necessary arrangements. Of course, do hurry back to join in the fun again!
13. Are all activities compulsory?
Of course not! If you feel very uncomfortable with any of the games, please feel free to observe rather than participate. However, we strongly encourage you to participate fully because you do not have many chances to attempt these games!
14. How are the sizes of the T-shirts like?
Sizes come in unisex sizes. For guys, we suggest either M or L. For girls, we suggest S or M. If you are in doubt, we suggest that you take the larger size!
15. I am a senior/graduate from NTU. Can I join the camp as a freshman?
We cannot accept seniors or graduates into our camp as freshmen. This is because we have limited vacancies, and the main purpose of this camp is to ease freshmen of NTU into campus life. Through the irreplaceable shared experience of the camp, we hope to bond all freshmen camp participants together.
16. I am a freshman going to NUS/SMU/etc. Many of my friends are joining your camp. Can I join the camp too?
The main objective of orientation camps is to widen freshmen's social circles and to familiarize them with the new school compound that they will be spending a good number of years in. As such, we advise that you join your university's camp to know more about the school you will be attending.
17. What will happen to the cheque if my application is rejected?
The cheque will be striked off and disposed of properly. We will only bank in the cheque after we have accepted your application for the camp.
18. If I have a medical examination scheduled on one of the days in camp, what can I do?
Please reschedule your medical examination if it falls on one of the days in camp. You can make a trip to the Medical Centre right away and complete the medical examination on the spot.
For other enquires with regards to medical examination, you can call the Medical Centre at 67936828 or 67936974. The Medical Centre is located at South Spine (S3-B2-15), beside the Lee Kong Chian Lecture Theatre. Alternatively, if you are only able to attend the medical examination on one of the days during our camp, please arrange to do it only on 23rd July and come back for more fun activities that await you.
